Joyce-

Hello! Insulin and not being able to loose weight.  I want to share my story with you about insulin and weight. I started using insulin in January 08.  I was about 130.  I weigh about 145 give or take a few pounds.  My weight gain isn't caused by insulin but it was caused by "FREEDOM".  I was DX with Diabetes in 2004, placed on glipizid and later metformin.  I followed the low carb diet to a "T"and I was a tough cookie. I never ate anything I wasn't suppose too! I was introduced to insulin because my pancreas wasn't doing great with the pills and everyone kept saying you can have more "Freedom" and eat whatever you want on the pump.  I lost my concentration and took advantage of the freedom insulin and the pump gave me.  I have had a ruff year lowest A1C 6.3 and highest 7.1; that's the highest I had since I was DX'd.

I am going back to the hardcore low carb diabetic I was because I don't like having too much freedom.  I am going to exercise and stay away from the high carb foods.  I think it's more of a mind over matter thing.
