Richard-

Hello! The reading's should be as follow (for any type of diabetic), The ADA recommends you are 90-130 before meals and less than 180 two hours after the start of each meal. Your Physician should be able to talk to you about the goals he or she has set for you.  If you have any questions you should see if you can see a Certified Diabetic Educator. Hope this helps.

I'm also Type 2, with complications and on an insulin pump.  My doctor recommends for my sugar to be in the range of 80-120 and no more than 160 2 hours after a meal, with 70 being regarded as hypogycemic. I think it's because he wants me to have a tighter control with my sugar.  Every doctor sets his/her own limits based on your situation.

Just keep in mind that everytime your sugar is high your body/organs are dehydrating.  You will notice that you drink so much more when sugars are high.  Also high sugar glucose can cause your appetite to increase.
