All other things being equal, type 1s can survive without insulin, but not as long as type 1s who use insulin correctly.
Every time you consume food, it is likely your blood glucose rises above 140mg/dl and remains there for a significant amount of time.
140mg/dl is the clinically recognized blood glucose level that is toxic to many important cells in the body. A portion of heart, blood, blood vessel, brain, eye and nerve cells die each time they receive toxic levels of glucose.
Eventually your body will get to the tipping point where it becomes more difficult for new cells to replace dying cells fast enough. The result: Cardiovascular disease, neuropathy, and vision problems will probably be the first indicators of untreated diabetes.
Important organs will start failing. Sores won't heal, fingers/toes will not receive enough blood, diminishing vision will surely follow.
If you don't die due to other complications, amputations and blindness will eventually reduce your quality of life.
Not a pretty picture.
Suggest you take the time to investigate programs that provide low-cost or free treatment before more damage occurs.
Do yourself a favor and check your blood sugars with a glucose meter(available at any pharmacy). If your reading is high, you need inslulin to bring it down to normal levels( 80-120). If blood sugars remain high for an extended period the small capillaries in your body self destruct. Which is why diabetes is the number one cause of blindness, amputation, and kidney disease. Yes it will slowly kill you and do it without you feeling any pain. From a veteran type 1 diabetic. Please don't play games with this beast.
