Hi Debbie,

Tricor is the brand name for the drug Fenofibrate which is used in lowering bad cholestral levels (ldl) and triglycerides and helping to raise good cholestral levels (hdl.) You can read more about this drug here in the drugs database. Triglyceride levels are indicators of what is going on with the heart and these three things are monitored by your diabetes doctor. Only your doctor can tell if Tricor should be added to your regimine to help control your type 2 diabetes.

Online sources are great resources for helping to manage your health by getting the information to ask all the right questions, but they can not take the place of your doctor's solid medical advice.

Take care and stay in touch!

I too would be interested in the answer to this question. Since starting TriCor a few weeks ago, my glucose levels have been in the normal range 95% of the time without taking my glucose medicine. The times I have gone ahead and taken my glucose medicine, I have had to fight all day to keep my level up..... was there a study done on this?
