Q: what is metformin

What is the drug metformin and are there any side effects?

Hi Stuart,

Thank you for your question. Metformin belongs to the drug class biguanides. It works by reducing the amount of sugar that the the liver produces. There are some side effects associated with metformin use, the most common of which are diarrhea and upset stomach. I am using metformin 750 two times 30 minutes before meals with Glimy 1.5 morning and .5gms in the night. please advise whether it is better to use before or after meals. Reply
