My father, after many years, could not longer read and drive after his diabetes was not well monitored, and  I later found out how high his sugars were.  It goes to show you that not all doctors work well with eldelry patients.  Make sure when you have your eyes examined, that you get them dilated.  I wish you the best.  Some of the latest articles say that good control diminish microvascular complications and eye disease in diabetics. :)
