Q: Help with weight loss and insulin needed .

I am a type 1 Diabetic and have had diabetes for 15yrs. Is there something that can safeley help me loose weight? I asked my doctor about Byeta and he stated that this was not safe for me because I suffered many DKA's in the first year I was diagnosed.I do take 80units Lantus and 18 units humalog with meals.

Abigail-

Hello! Have you tried using an insulin pump??? it helps with better control:) How many carbs do you eat in a day or per meal? I would say you may have to lower your carbs, that's a start. Do you exercise regularly? if not you may want to exercise. I am using the Omnipod insulin system and I love it. I have picked up 5 pounds since starting it in May. I just recently went back to eating less carbs to stop the weight gain. I hope this helps. IF you click here, it will take you to Dietary Goals and Exercise
