Thursday, October 09, 2008 V.Marrz asks

Q: Impossible to afford my Diabetes medication.

I have been using Lantus insulin for about 4 years. The price has increased by $20.00 in that time.

Since the death of my husband, (04/06/08) I find it impossible to afford my medications on my income, alone.

I have contacted Sanofi-Aventis, the maker of Lantus, but they have no program for people who cannot afford their meds.

I don't know what to do. I have no health insurance, and am not old enough for Medicare. Between the syringes, testing supplies, and the Lantus, the cost is unbelievable! I also take meds for: hypertension, cholesterol, and anxiety. Any ideas?

oops, there is one more place Walmart offers insulin at a much cheaper rate. You might want to contact your local Walmart Pharmacy.

Hi, here's a website for free drugs for the people who cannot afford their drugs.

needymeds.com. There are many free drug websites that can give the names of drug manufacturers who give free drugs. Lantus is not the only insulin on the market, you may have to have your doc change it, but I think Sanofi-Aventis does have a patient assistance program.

All of them do. Use your pc to your advantage, research free meds until you find the supplies and the meds you need. All your supplies can be free as well.
