Q: what does it mean if the area under the toe nail turns black

my husband had his toenails clipped and one corner of the toe under the nail has turned black - he had a slight infection last week but now it looks worse.  What does this mean?  What can be done?

I don't' 'know' what this means. The fact that this is new and your husband has had a recent infection, I would get the doctor as soon as possible. Perhaps while trimming the nail, a drop of blood seeped into the nail bed. It could have seeped into your husband's nail bed and 'looks'black. Get to the Doctor and find out for sure. Good luck to you both. mef Reply
