My 11 year old nephew was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. His parents say that his doctors told them that he can eat ANYTHING, regardless of sugar content. He just has to count carbs and adjust insulin doses according to what he eats. This doesn't sound correct to me. I thought he would have to cut out sugars. I'm worried that using so much insulin to "fix" his regular diet is not good for him. What is correct?
