Q: Effects of honey on diabetics

I am a 53 year old male in good health but with a family history of diabetes and heart disease. I take 4 teaspoons of honey in my tea. Is this good or bad for my health?

The only way to know is to test your blood glucose two hours after.  Four teaspoons may be a lot, but each person is affected differently by various sweeteners.

I have been told that although honey will elevate your sugar level it will not harm your heart or kidneys because it is a natural sweetner. Please be sure to select the darkest honey you can as it contains more nutrients.  Good luck!
