my insulin C-peptide serum test came back as 7.7 ng/ml and norm range is 1.1-5.0 what does that mean

I  have been diagnosed with PCOS, My insulin(fasting) is 41.4 norm range (0,0-29.1 ulm/ml) I am 22 and weigh only 126lbs and am 5'6.

This means that your body is producing more insulin than normal.  This is probably due to your body being resistant to insulin.  PCOS causes insulin resistance.  This means that even though your body is producing insulin, it's not able to use it normally.  Your doctor may put you on pills or other medication to increase your sensitivity to insulin.

Just Wondering-

 

Hello! it's interesting you mention this because I was just reading about PCOS at work today.  I am not a Physician but it sounds like you are experiencing insulin resistance. Your physician may decide to put you on metformin to help treat your condition. Click here and it will take you to treatment options for PCOS. Talk to your physician about your results, he or she will be able to answer any questions you have. I never leave the Doc w/o asking all of my questions and w/o the Doc answering them.
