I don't understand the drug to drug interaction between Reglan and Paxil. Reglan's modes of actions are entirely different compared to Paxil. How is it possible to have a "serotonin syndrom" when combining both drugs?

Hi Henrik,
Thank you for your question. There has been some evidence that suggests in interaction might occur between Reglan and Paxil. Several reports have been published of an individual suffering from a movement disorder or something that resembles serotonin syndrome when taking these medications together. It is not understood what actually causes this interaction or how it works, but patients are encouraged to report any unusual movement disorders or serotonin syndrome-like effects to their physicians immediately if such a reaction should occur. I hope this helps!
Best of luck,
Casey
