Thursday, October 02, 2008 Ruth N. Ayala asks

Q: I've had adrenalectomy, on cortef replacement, ..all diabetes meds counteracted by cortef...help...

Adrenalectomy happened in 1969. (Cushings patient).  Diabetes set in late in life...I'm now 74yrs. old.. I take 100mgs. Januvia in AM... my cortef  15mgs late PM..not good, because

my energy level all day is low. ..and when a virus (as just happened) comes along..I have

to drop Januvia (can't reverse, of course) and take...and double cortef in the AMs till

gone...then return.

Why can't an endocrinologist  ask  a Mayo Clinic (where cortef invented)  for help in my

case?   Do I have to go to Mayo Clinic personally?   What's the big deal?
