Beginning with the first forms of insulin injections, diabetics have held out hope for a cure. Research on new treatment options for Type 1 diabetes is ongoing. Current research around new treatment options have ranged from new types of surgery (including islet cell replacement, pancreas transplant and the use of an artifical pancreas), to different forms and ways to consume insulin (inhaled insulin). Keep an eye out for any new treatments that may be in development, in clinical trial stages or even those that become available to the public!
