In order to achieve normal blood glucose levels, a diabetic should consume what they are prepared to "cover" with insulin, accounting for exercise; consuming too much or too little food relative to insulin may result in excessively high or low blood sugar levels.  A healthy diet, balanced with fruits, vegetables, proteins and carbohydrates should be maintained.  Diabetics should maintain a reasonable weight, where a person's diet should reflect overall health.
