Mediterranean diet beats low-fat diet for diabetics

The low-carb Mediterranean-style diet is more effective than a low-fat, low-calorie diet for diabetics, a new study has found. The four year Italian study found that the Mediterranean diet not only led to greater weight loss, it also delayed the need for diabetes medication, improved blood sugar control, and reduced some heart disease risk factors, including triglycerides.
