Obese adults are not the only group who face weight-related social
stigma. According to new research, overweight kids can face bias
from their peers, teachers, and even from their parents as early as
age 3. The study also found that obese children were two to three
times more likely to report suicidal thoughts than kids who were
not overweight. This unrelenting social stigma and rejection can
lead to a greatly reduced quality of life, experts say.
