Doctors given OK to prescribe Byetta as shortage ends

Drugmakers Eli Lilly & Co. and Amylin Pharmaceuticals have given doctors the go-ahead to write new prescriptions for the antidiabetic drug Byetta. Earlier this year, the manufacturers asked doctors to avoid prescribing Byetta to new patients because the company that makes cartridges for the injectable drug could not keep up with the drug's fast-growing demand.
