Many patients who stopped using Avandia over concerns about the drug's safety were never given other medications, and may have experienced hikes in their blood sugar levels, a new study reports. Researchers say that after stopping use, patients fasting blood sugar levels were higher than before they began taking the medication. This increase suggests that stopping drugs such as Avandia and Actos may lead to increased cardiovascular risks, the study's authors suggest.
