The diabetes med metformin may help people who suffer from schizophrenia control the weight gain that typically accompanies their medications, Chinese researchers say. The study showed that three months of both metformin and lifestyle changes resulted in a loss of 2 cm around the waist as well as improvements in insulin resistance and other health measures in patients with schizophrenia.
