Obesity virus may spread like the common cold

A new study suggests that a common virus may be responsible for obesity in some people. Researchers in Louisiana studied 1,000 obese people and found that 20 percent of them had been exposed to a virus called Adenovirus-36. The patients who had been exposed to Adenovirus-36 were heavier than normal-weight people and also heavier than obese people whose bloodwork suggested they hadn't been exposed to the virus.
