Young vegetarians tend to weigh less than their meat-eating peers, but experts say they may also be more at risk for binge eating disorder. Researchers studied 2,516 youths aged 15 to 23 and found that vegetarians reported more binging and other types of disordered eating. Participants who reported being former vegetarians were more likely to turn to dangerous weight-control behaviors such as diet pills, vomiting, and using laxatives.
