How Does The Endocrine System Cause Diabetes

Researchers say they've come another step closer to helping diabetics be able to regenerate their own insulin-producing cells. They discovered that a well known protein called Pdx1 helps the endocrine system generate new pancreatic islet cells, including those that make insulin. Researchers say the next step is seeing if the results of the animal study are the same in humans. If the results are the same, it may lead to treatments that could help the body produce its own insulin again.
