Researchers say the combination of two classes of Type 2 diabetes drugs--metformin and sulfonylurea--may increase the risk of hospitalization and death. The new study, published in Diabetes Care came after experts analyzed the results of nine studies. They found that the combination of the two classes increased the risk of mortality by 19 percent and the risk of hospitalization or death because of cardiovascular disease by 43 percent.
