Oral Glucose Drug

Garlic compound may treat diabetes

A new drug based on a chemical found in garlic may be effective at treating Type 1 and Type II diabetes, Japanese researchers say. In a study on mice, scientists found that the medication reduced blood glucose levels. Previous studies on this compound suggested that the drug could reduce blood glucose levels when given as an injection, but the new study suggests it may also work as an oral treatment.
