Actos may slow heart disease in diabetics

A new study has found that the diabetes drug Actos may slow the progression of heart disease in patients with Type 2 diabetes. Researchers compared both the effects of two diabetes medications--Actos and Glimepiride--on blood sugar and artery plaque. They found that while both drugs lowered blood sugar, Glimepiride caused a buildup of plaque in the arteries, while Actos did not.
