The Risk Factors For Developing Diabetes

A major randomized trial has found that ACE inhibitor Altace
(ramipril) does not prevent Type 2 diabetes. The study, which
pitted Altace against a placebo in more than 5,200 patients, was
based on previous research that suggested the blood-pressure drug
might prevent diabetes in patients with cardiovascular risk
factors. While Altace does not prevent the development of diabetes,
researchers point out that it does significantly help patients move
toward normal glucose levels.
