A team of researchers at Harvard University has found that eating processed meats such as sausage increases people's risk of developing heart disease and diabetes, while eating red meat such as steak does not appear to be as harmful. The scientists, who looked at data on more than one million people, found that just 50 g of processed meat per day also boosts people's risk of developing diabetes. But eating twice that much unprocessed meat such as beef, lamb, or pork does not have the same risk.
