What Does Insulin Resistance Mean

Researchers have found that insulin resistance in high-risk women dropped by 22 percent after a seven-week exercise program. The study included women between 20 and 45 who had less than one hour of physical activity per week and a sedentary job. It compared the effect of exercise on women who had insulin resistance and those who didn't. The women who had high insulin resistance also had at least one parent with Type 2 diabetes.
