Aim for 100 steps per minute for moderate intensity

People who walk to get fit should aim for 100 steps per minute, a new study suggests. Researchers say that the recommendation to take 10,000 steps per day is good, but it doesn't take into account that some of those steps need to be done quickly enough to get your heart rate up--particularly if you're trying to lose weight. Experts say wearing a wristwatch and a pedometer while you walk is a good way to determine if you're moving quickly enough, or if you need to walk faster. 100 steps per minute for a 30-minute workout means aiming for 3,000 steps in that session.  Read full story >
