Some diabetes drugs linked to eye disorder

A class of diabetes drugs called glitazones may increase the risk of diabetic macular edema (DME), a new study has found. Glitazones—which include the popular diabetes medications Actos and Avandia—could raise the risk of the retinal disorder by 60 percent. Experts say DME causes swelling and fluid accumulation in the retina, and it can lead to vision loss.
