Medtronic recalls some insulin pump sets

(Reuters) UPDATED 2009-07-10
Pharmaceutical company Medtronic is voluntarily recalling some lots of its Paradigm Quick Set infusion sets that are used with Minimed Paradign insulin pumps. Medtronic has received reports that about 2 percent of these infusion sets in lot "8" may not allow the insulin pump to vent air pressure correctly, which can cause the pumps to malfunction. The affected infusion sets are reference numbers MMT-396, MMT-397, MMT-398 and MMT-399 with lot numbers starting with the number "8." Medtronic is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on the recall, and officials say they will replace the recalled lots.
