Canadian researchers say that the Type 2 diabetes drug Avandia raises heart risks more than the drug Actos. Avandia has been linked to heart risks since 2007, though some studies have discounted those results. The latest study of 39,736 found that those taking Avandia were at a greater risk of heart failure and death than patients taking Actos. Many experts point out that since the drug Actos is a viable alternative, it makes little sense to leave patients on Avandia.
