Metabolic syndrome can increase medical costs

People who have metabolic syndrome may pay up to $2,000 per year more than people who don't have the syndrome, researchers say. In a two-year study on 170,000 men and women, scientists also found that people who had diabetes and metabolic syndrome risk factors paid about double the amount of healthcare costs per year as people who didn't have diabetes but did have metabolic syndrome risks.  Read full story >
