The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says that the diabetes drug Byetta may cause kidney function problems. Since 2005, the FDA has received 78 reports of patients who experienced kidney problems, while millions of prescriptions for the drug were filled. Because of that, the FDA points out that the risk of developing a kidney function problem is low, but they say that patients and their doctors should be aware of the possibility. The agency has also approved a change in the drug's label to include information about the kidney function report.
