NIH Urges Diabetics to get Annual Eye Exam in November
(National Institutes of Health) UPDATED 2011-11-08
November is National Diabetes Month, which means it's a perfect time to get an annual dilated eye exam, the National Eye Institute (NEI) suggests. According to experts, nearly 30 percent of diabetics over the age of 40 have diabetic retinopathy--a condition that can lead to profound vision loss. The NEI suggests that diabetic patients schedule a yearly eye exam during November, in order to catch signs of retinopathy at the earliest stages.
