I am 5'2" & 115 pounds. I am not overweight but I could use some toning up, I'm not very happy with my body! It seems like I fail at every diet, no matter what. I have a crazy sweet tooth and I easily give in to junk! What can I eat or do to prevent myself from doing so? Willpower just doesn...

I've noticed the tips for healthy habits never include fun and healthy. As a health professional who works with people trying modify their behavior, I found that including tasty items that can help curb cravings for sugary or fattening items helps with changing habits. One of my newer recommendations for those who are trying cut back on their soda pop intake is the new vitaminwater 10. It actually tastes great and is sweetened naturally from the stevia plant. I am looking forward to recommending to my clients who are watching their calories. Should be great as we move into the summer season. It really can be a treat that you don't feel guilty about.

    And be active...active...active!!

I have a killer sweet tooth too. Just eat some fruit... Fruit and water.Tho it never hurts to satisfy the sweet tooth. like set aside one day a week where you enjoy one of your fav sweets. But if you want to tone, just eating healthy isn't going to just make that happen. Try exercises high in reps or solid cardio workouts. it works believe me!

I'm losing a lot of weight right now and all I do is drink water, drink a lot of water, eat fruits (any kind of berry generally satisfies plus you get antioxidants).  Being healthful doesn't mean you can't have flavour I'm eating more flavourful foods now than ever before.  Eat smaller meals more often, this will keep you full.  I've dropped 20 lbs (I have a lot to lose) and I don't get cravings.  Once you clean that stuff out of your system, the cravings generally go away.  When I'm really feeling the need for chocolate though (read pms) I usually buy the 70% cocoa dark chocolate that's imported into canada and eat a small square.  It works and it also has antioxidants and helps boost HDL levels (good cholesterol) but it does have a high fat content, but it's a better fat for you than the trans and saturated types you find in candy or name brand chocolate bars.

We all have temptation every now and then, go ahead and give in to it in moderation.  One day does not a diet break as long as you realize that you will go back to eating correctly the next day and the days there after.  I have lost 120 pounds in the last 9 months and yes I do go off calorie count once or twice a month, but not really overboard.  Hang in there a little craving is good.

Toning doesn't require you to stop eating sweets! Geez, you're 115 pounds. How much smaller can you get? Why don't you do some weight lifting to tone up and eat sweets within reason and stop feeling so damn guilty!!

    With love.

I have the same problem.  I always want something sweet after a meal.  I start by not keeping sweet stuff in my house.  I have two children at home so stops at the store to buy ice cream are not easy for me.  I keep gum around at all times.  If I get a sweet craving I will chew gum.  I can also suggest keeping low-calorie hard candy around.  Also, dried fruit is a great snack as long as it doesn't have added sugar.  I also trick myself into eating low calorie desserts.  I buy instant fat free pudding and make berry parfaits.  I make them in nice parfait glasses to give them appeal.  I hope this helps.

You are 18 and 115lbs.!!!  You don't need a diet.  If you want to tone up you need to take up an activity that focuses on what you want to tone up.  Don't worry about eating sweets--atleast not for a few/maybe like 5 or 7 more years. (I was the same body type at 18 and only wanted to tone up too-my legs/thighs always bothered me.  But I never gained weight because of what I ate until like 28yrs.)  Just try to be active.

I managed to lose 45 pounds and am at my ideal weight now.  I struggled with the same problem, and still do occasionally.  I give in to junk food way more than I'd like.  I have 3 kids and a husband that is not interested in cutting back on junk food, so that makes it way more difficult.  I guess that's a whole 'nother topic.  What helped me with willpower is exercise, lots of water, and be sure to get at least 7 hours of sleep every night.  I noticed a huge difference in willpower when I hadn't got the best nights sleep.

Im 19 and I eat like crazy but my matabolism helps me out with my weight. I still have to really watch though because i weighed 164 Lbs. at 6'2'' and the doctor told me to gain weight because it wasn't very healthy. But if you want to tone prepare to gain because I weigh 205 now, but hey i really don't look it and Im really strong.
