“100 Things to Do Before You Die” Co-Author Dave Freeman Dies at 47

Dave Freeman co-author of the revolutionary travel book "100 Things to Do Before You Die" fell and hit his head in mid-August. His father told the L.A. Times that he died on August 17.

Freeman, who lived in Rome, managed to do about half the things collected in the book.

According to the L.A. Times, the book, published in 1999, "was one of the first contemporary books to create a travel agenda based on 100 sites and then market it with a title that reminded mortal readers that time was limited."

Have you read the book? Have you done anything on the list? Do you plan to do any? Tell us!

What a shame to die at such a relatively young age. I haven't read the book --yet. But I did look at an online excerpt from it. On the list I saw, the Burning Man Project (an arts celebration that sounds REALLY cool), Academy Awards ceremony (ze Oscars!), and Mardi Gras (in N'awlins, of course). Can definitely see myself doing those. But the Testicle Festival. Hmmm. I think I'll sit that one out!
