I was diagnosed last year 2008 with high cholesterol and blood pressure.  I was about 20 pounds over-weight also.  I have made significant break-throughs through a dietician and exercise.

I was put on a regimen (I call it a new way of eating) and it has significantly reduced my cholesterol and blood pressure.  I have also lost 15 pounds.  To start a completely new regime I believe takes will-power and a wanting to make changes in new eating habits.  I succeeded in that area; I made changes to what I eat; such as going towards legumes, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and I challenge myself daily to new recipes that include the foods that keep my healthy and on track.

Once I got over the hurdle of making changes to the way I eat, it is now easier and simpler.  It's a matter of will and determination that helps us reach out goals.

I exercise three times per week.  They are strengthening exercises which also helps my arthritis.  I have arthritis in my neck and knees.  I walk in between my exercise days.  Thank God I love to walk.  I now call it "spirit walking" which is like meditation walking.  Freeing your mind and just seeing everything around you.  It is so relaxing and when one returns home; we are free from mental stress and chaotic thoughts.  A plus to keeping on track.

In all I lost 15 pounds which was difficult for me as I also have fibromyaliga; a chronic pain syndrome.  There were days it was difficult, but through a chronic pain therapist I was chaallenged daily; but did reach my goal; shy of 5 pounds.  No problem!  It's a New Year and I look forward to feeling even better each day.

A little suggestion to everyone here is that I found a passion through photography.  I wanted to capture the beauty that I know hold inside through such supportive intervention.  Now I capture the beauty outside through my waking eyes.  I wanted to share a few of them with you all.  I think that one needs to find a passion, whether it be small or large, and implement this into your life.  It gives you the desire and drive to success in all of life's challenges.  It give you a new perspective on life.
