  • There are a range of reasons why people experience cravings.  Some studies suggest that the brain is to blame, suggesting that areas responsible for memory and pleasure  - the hippocampus, insula, and caudate - become stimulated when we want certain foods. Additionally, emotional reasons are a likely culprit, as food cravings seem to arise during periods of stress and anxiety.  While research is still needed to determine if cravings can be directly linked to nutritional needs, some studies suggest there may be a connection. Here's a look at what your cravings might be telling you about what your body may be missing.
