Tips to Help Make Sure You Don't Miss Your Morning Workout

Lisa Gulley Health Guide
  • As the days get colder and shorter, you might find it harder to get yourself out of bed for your early morning workout.  It is still dark and although it is hard to peel yourself away from warm blankets, keep in mind the hardest step is the first one out of bed!

Keep your goals on track with these 4 ways to help set you up for early morning workout success:

    1. Get to bed earlier. It is much easier to get up when you are well rested, so aim for at least 7-8 hours of solid sleep each night.
    2. Have your clothes and gear ready to go. Save an extra few minutes by having your clothes laid out, shoes by the door, and water bottle filled. This will lead to less distractions and make sure nothing gets left behind (like headphones!) No need to think; just get dressed and go.
    3. Enlist a friend. You are less likely to blow off a workout when you know someone else is depending on you to show up. Commit to get fit with a buddy who will help hold you accountable.
    4. Have your training plan ready to go.  Knowing in advance exactly what workout you will be doing will help save you valuable time in trying to figure it out in the morning.  Keep a journal or a plan detailed in your phone so it is easily accessible.
