If you can bear it, try to work out in the morning. Some people - like my colleague, Harry Lodge, just can't do it. Okay, but there are pluses. First, you're so much less likely to blow it off as your day gets crowded. More important to me, it whee's you up, first thing, and puts you in a positive frame of mind for the day...makes you less likely to gobble down crap (waste that workout)...more optimistic for whatever comes. THE GREAT WAY TO START THE DAY. And remember, it's your job now...best to get to work early.

I am not into restraint but it is not a bad idea to have some vague recollection that you are 50 or 60 or whatever...not 20. I recently came out west for a ski vacation or "kedge" (see prior blogs). Jumped off to a ferocious start one day...skied my socks off with some people much better than I. Fine...that's what this is all about. BUT, it is also the case that I tweaked my right hip, just a teensy bit, going for it in some deep spot. Not bad but it has stuck with me for a week. Not good. So remember: you are Younger This Year...you are not immortal. Sorry.
