The last blood work up I had showed my blood sugar count to be 115, first time ever to show there might be a problem.

I have started an exercise program and I want to eat healthy but do not understand the food exchange diet that I found on the internet.

It suggested 3 meals and 2 snacks each day. Is it necessary to eat all the menu suggests? Can I skip snacks? I can't seem to eat all the food the diet calls for. I printed out a 1500 calorie diet, I weigh 120. I have cut back on all sugar; no sweets, no sugar in my coffee, etc. I will be getting another blood workup in December and I want to control this with diet, no medication.

I also have high blood pressure and high cholesterol, I am to avoid dairy products so for the diabetic menu to call for 1 cup low fat milk, seems like that would up the cholesterol, I am confused.

Thank you for your help.
