I'm a 33 year old male, 6'1 and weigh 120kg.  For the past 8 weeks I have made a concious effort to lose some weight and yet nothing I do seems to make a difference.  ( i have only lost 2 kg which is a little disheartening.)  Here is a brief breakdown of what I'm doing...

1. Not on any 'diet' I have just adjusted what I eat and when I eat.

2. Not eating carbs after 4pm

3. Having 4-5 small meals during the day (big breakfast/small dinner)

4. Eat plenty of fruit/vegatables/fish etc

5. Have massively cut down on saturated fat, eating white, processed bread and sugar

6. Drinking 3L of water a day

7. Taking a brisk 30 min walk each day + 20 min of weights

8. Had thyroid checked - not an issue.

9. Don't eat chips/chocolates/fizzy drinks etc

I know that losing weight is a slow process but only 2kg in 2 months? what am I doing wrong?  Please help.....

Okay, First of all the weight you have is water weight (since you are drinking 3L a day!)

Second of all, what you are losing in weight, yuo are gaining in muscle. So really it is the new muscle you are gaining that is making you weight so much. Lastly, you should NOT work the same muscles two days in a row! It is not good for you. You should do a different routine every other day. Hope this could help!

Don't make the mistake of thinking you need to cut out the water.  The more you drink the more that will be eliminated.  Just cut down your sodium intake so you will retain less water.

Stop eating the white products and any processed foods. May be the salt in your foods causing you to retain water. Once you make these changes and you don't see any results take it a step further. Add more fiber. Eat fruit that contains less sugar. How many calories are you eating. You said you are eating several meals a day. what foods are you actually eating?

More protien, less veggies and even less fruits (fruits are naturally high in sugar). Protien helps you burn more fat. Keep up with the water! If you want to make sure your not gaining muscle, maybe just do cardio in a week, 30 mins you'll be good.

I agree, you should continue drinking plenty of water - your body will hold onto what it wants and the rest will leave the body.

Also, you have not mentioned your intake of protein and the omega 3 oils - regular intake of both are very important.

The other major obstacle that I see regularly is high stress levels. Your body's stress hormone, cortisol, is notorious for blocking the fat-burning process.
