A question came up recently in response to my article on artificial sweeteners. The question was regarding the safety of Stevia, a "natural" no-calorie sweetener. So, what exactly are natural sugar substitutes and does natural always equal better? Let's take a look:   What are natural swe...

You only mentioned on the Agave what the GI was and not on any of the others. Is that information available and can you please list that if it is?

Swerve® not only looks, tastes and measures just like sugar, but you can cook and bake with it, candy nuts, and make ice cream with it.  Swerve® is all natural, made from the fiberous parts of plants through a natural enzyme process.  It is the perfect choice for diabetics and any and everyone wanting to reduce sugar in thier diet. With Swerve®, you don't have to give up your indulgences, all you lose is calories (and weight!!!) Swerve® has ZERO caloies and ZERO glycemic index.

See www.swervesweetener.com for more info.

But is it a perfect Natural Sugar Substitute?. . .What is hidden under the heading "Natural Flavorings"  I am very concerned about what's there.  Well, this company ever tell us the truth.  Truvia does the same thing, they also have "Natrual Flavorings" listed in their ingrediants too.  The heading "Natural Flavorings" Scares me. . . .How do we know it's not MSG or some other BAD THING. . . .

I appreciate you vigilence in label reading, and yes, there is a hidden truth with "Truvia", however, the "natural flavores" in Swerve are olgiosacharides and are now listed as such on the ingredients panel of all SKUs for all countries.  Swerve REALLY is the ONLY all natural, stevia free, non chemically altered sweetener out there with zero calories, zero glycemic index and that truly measures and behaves like sugar!!!

Thank you so much for your quick Answer, I really appreciate.

Now, I do have Three more more question, which I hope you won't mind answering.

What kind of olgiosacharides are in Swerve? A Fructo-oligoscharides (Fos) or a Mannan-Oligosaccarhdes. (Mos)

And Depending on which one, What Plant or Source is it made from or extracted from. . .I need to know incase of a food sensitivity?

Also, I  Stevia NOT TURVIA, but the Sugar alone Stevia is you say is a more heathly sugar?  Could you explain. . .Thank you.

What about Luo Han Guo?  I've started to use this and find it guite plesent in taste?  What is the difference between Stevia and Luo Han Guo.  I understand Stevia comes from South America, while Luo Han Guo is from china and is at lest 1,000 years old?

Are these two safe, and what about calories, and carbs for those who count carbs rather than calories?

Thanks to the Swerve people for helping me make-over my favorite recipes. My diabetic mother-in-law loves asking, "what's for dessert?!" My parents, who are sweet eaters, can't tell the difference when I bake with Swerve...so, I don't tell them Sealed

I'm glad to see other commenters mentioning Swerve.  I'm enjoying a smoothie for lunch today from Vitality, sweetened with Swerve.  Yum!

Being in the food service buisness for quite some time, the healthy trend has been fast aproaching us.  we have been looking for an alternitive to sugar for quite some time.  Now with swerve, we can bake, cook, and just plain eat sugar.  the fact that there are no calories and we can just replace it in recipes without any crazy conversions makes swerve a product that you will be shocked when you see how great and easy it is to use.

I like to use a Sweetner called Swerve. It is an all-natural sugar alternative that tastes measures and bakes just like sugar. Anything you do with sugar you can do with Swerve, at it measures 1 for 1 so it makes it easy to work with.

It has zero calories and zero glycemic index, so it is especially great for diabetics. It is made from the fibrous parts of fruits and vegetables. It doesnt cause any digestive discomfort and has no bitter aftertaste to it either. After using Swerve, there is NO OTHER alternative that comes even close to how awesome this product is!

You never mentioned either of the above and wonder how good or bad they are.

Thank you.

Why go with artifical when you can go All-Natural with Swerve!  Equal is scary... have you ever heard of "excitotoxins"?  Read up on that and you definitely won't be asking about Equal anymore!  Splenda... remove glucose molecules and replace them with chlorine molecules... YUM!

Again, as the other posts have said... Swerve is the BEST Sugar Alternative out there.  Nothing bakes or cooks like sugar more than Swerve.  You can pick it up a Whole Foods Market and lots of other health food stores!

Does Splenda and equal have aspartaime in them?  This is not good for the heart.  Aspartaime is also covered by names starting with prop.... this is also Aspartaime.  Msg?  Aspartaime has caused heart attacks and are in alot of the diet sodas, crystal light, and it speeds your heart , can make you dizzy, alot of other side affects, i have seen these side affects from girls i work with, one had a heart attack, she drank crystal light 5 to 6 oz a day and she went to er and this was the cause of all her other problems also.  So when you drink diet drinks check into the aspartaime that is in those drinks.
