  • I’ve heard that B12 shots can help you lose weight, is this true?

Vitamin B12 or cobalamin, is an essential vitamin used for cell replication, red blood cell formation and the production of DNA and RNA. It also helps convert food into energy in the body but there is no link between this vitamin and weight loss. However, many people who receive B12 injections feel more energized and may exercise more which could lead to weight loss.

Does eating after 7p.m. cause weight gain?

Many people, especially celebrities, claim not to eat after the dinner hour. The thought behind this concept is that you are less active in the evening and so you should consume less calories because you’re body will not be using them and they will be stored as fat. However, this is a misconception. As long as you aren’t exceeding your calorie limit for the day you can eat up until the time you get into bed without gaining weight. And in fact, eating small amounts every few hours helps keep your metabolism going.

I love apples and now we’re into the season. Is there one type of apple that is better than the rest?

We’ve all heard the saying that an apple-a-day keeps the doctor away. Apples are very nutrient dense. All varieties of apples are a great source of Vitamins A and C and fiber. They are also a great source of antioxidents which help protect the body from free radicals and keep us healthy. There are some varieties like Red Delicious, Northern Spy and Ida Red apples that have higher levels of these antioxidents, which can help prevent cancer.
