This is probably the most unusal question youve been asked, when growing up in the 60's chicken wings and necks were givng away and my dad always boiled them and we would eat them hot or cold, when I mention to my friends Im having boiled chicken/wings they make fun of me, so my question is.....if I eat the skin of the chicken after its been cooked is that not better than having them deepfried?. I could sit down and eat a package of boiled chicken wing skin and all. my main concern is the skin.

Hi Suzan,

I too have had boiled chicken wings and most people like your friends don't think they are delicious, but add some seasoning or spices and you have yourself a lip smacking meal. Yes boiling is a lot better than deep frying on two fronts first it has less calories and frying does seem to change the chemical composition of food. With wings, sometimes I enjoy them with or without the skin which does contain most of the fat, but it really depends on how I'm feeling. So yes, it's a more healthy alternative than deep frying.

Hi Kenn

Thanks for getting back to me, that was really nice of you. Tell you the truth just plain boiled chicken wing with salt is good enough for me for my concern was about eating the skin. I love the skin and was worried about it not being that healthy. I use to work at KFC and when we deep fry the wings we twist the back around to the front to make the wing look bigger, I actually boil my wings like that and it tastier.

p/s....you probably know this, but the wings at KFC has the most breading.

Bye for now.

Yea, but I love KFC wings.  Breasts are to dry, thighs are are too wet, drum sticks are too expensive.   10 wing bucket is out of this world, I have discovered.   Boiled skin is less fattier than raw.   I know that.   If your only fries food is a few French Fries and 10 wings at KFC, I think your good to go.
