Sleepiness after work outs

By Brandi Tuesday, July 29, 2008

I am 39 and work out 4-5 times a week, an hour to hour and half.  I get plenty of rest each night, eat a breakfast and lunch full of protein and plenty of water during my workouts.  The problem is I get extremely sleepy an hour after my workouts.  To the point where I want to start drinking Red Bull so I can stay awake!  What could be wrong??

my gut reaction is it could be that you're just tired because you've just expended so many calories.

Hello, I also have the same problem (except that I'm 31yo).  Did you manage to figure out how to fight this problem?  Please share.  Thanks!

Well, it is much better now. For the last couple few months, I have changed to eating 5 small meals a day (which I should have been doing all along)...for the small meal I eat around 11 (hour before my workout), includes a protein bar and banana. Then after my workout, I eat tuna and a shake with whey protein. It seems to have helped alot. You should try it!
