One to two pounds a week is weight you will lose and then maintain.  Please don't use the biggest Loser with it's unreasonable weight loss amounts as a guide - all of us experts are struggling with the poor messages the show is putting out - though I applaud the participants for realizing that their health is in danger.

If you target 1500 calories of nutrient dense food, weight train and do aerobic exercise - then as the weight is coming off you'll be creating toned, defined muscles while losing weight so you should. after 6 weeks look pretty good - even with a weight loss of about 12-16 pounds.

That's my final answer.  For diet plans and menus at that calorie level- check out the "Diet Center."
